After Class 12, hospitality education can look like one large category. It is not. A three-year degree, a shorter diploma and an entrance-led route may lead to very different daily experiences, qualifications and next steps. Start by comparing the route, then compare the college.
Start with the qualification
Ask who awards the qualification and what the full duration is. NCHMCT’s B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration is a three-year, six-semester programme. Other colleges may offer a BHM or another university qualification. A familiar-sounding course name is not enough; read the official programme page and ask for the current prospectus.
Match the route to your goals
A degree route may suit a student who wants broader academic study and time to build supervisory foundations. A diploma or craft course may suit someone seeking a shorter, focused practical entry point. Neither is automatically “better”. The useful question is whether the qualification, duration and cost fit the role you want to work towards.
Check the entry rules before making a shortlist
Check the current eligibility, English requirement, exam route, counselling process and document deadlines on the official source. Dates and procedures can change between admission cycles. Make a small comparison sheet with the awarding body, entrance requirement, practical facilities, internship model, total cost and location.
